Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Autoconfirmed editors are persistently adding uncited BO figures even after various notes placed throughout the article and multiple talk page warnings. Please check history for the similar disruptions this week. — Benison (Beni · talk) 06:16, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. BusterD (talk) 13:42, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Has been attracting a high level of IP comments, some of which violate BLP. As these are apparently inspired by the recent release of the Netflix series, several weeks of semi-protection may be a good idea. Nickm57 (talk) 06:55, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of two weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. BusterD (talk) 13:43, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requires Extended-confirmed protection, Reason: There is a very persistent sockmaster Kairakairav (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) — who from past 4 years have been adding hoax and fanfics of her own fancy to the Mahabharata related articles including this series. Either she just trolling or a lunatic, with no responses, nothing, she just makes new accounts and starts her cycle. Recently the article was vandalized by following sockaccounts of hers—User:NairaRahi01, User:NairaRahi, User:NairaKairav01, User:NairaKuhu31, User:Naira Kairav Sirat and User: SubhadraArjuna. Already protected by administrator Black Kite. BusterD (talk) 13:45, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: As soon as protection expired the page has been under one purpose ip attacks 1, 2, 3, I am asking for indefinite semi protection Theonewithreason (talk) 07:17, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: User:Yukitanooki is repeatedly adding non-free screenshot to the article. 0x0a (talk) 07:18, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection for at least 1 month — vandalism. Note: This page was recently protected, but after the protection ended, vandalism immediately re-began. The Seal F1 (talk) 07:43, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: ChatGPT

You said: Wikipedia page lock kaise kare ChatGPT said: Wikipedia par kisi page ko aap personally "lock" nahi kar sakte, lekin Wikipedia ke administrators (admins) kisi page ko protect kar sakte hain agar:

Us page par vandalisme (galat ya badle jaise edits) ho raha ho

Bahut zyada edit wars chal rahe ho

Page high-profile ya controversial ho (jaise Narendra Modi, Kashmir, etc.)

Lock hone ke types: Semi-protection – Sirf registered users edit kar sakte hain.

Extended-confirmed protection – Sirf purane aur trusted accounts hi edit kar sakte hain.

Full protection – Sirf admins edit kar sakte hain.

Agar aap chahte ho ki koi page lock ho: Page ke "Talk" section me jaake apni request likho.

Ya phir Wikipedia:Requests for page protection pe jaake request karo.

Reason achha aur valid hona chahiye (jaise vandalisme ka proof, recent edit history, etc.).

Agar tum chaho, to mujhe page ka naam aur reason bata do, main ek draft likh dunga jo tum wahan post kar sako.

You said: Samastipur ka page wikipedia page lock kar sakta hu aap likh kar do ChatGPT said: Sure! Yahaan ek draft diya gaya hai jo tum Wikipedia:Requests for page protection pe use kar sakte ho, ya Samastipur article ke Talk page par daal sakte ho:

Request for Semi-Protection: Samastipur

Hello,

I would like to request semi-protection for the Wikipedia page Samastipur. The page has recently seen frequent vandalism and non-constructive edits, which is affecting the quality and reliability of the content.

Examples of issues:

Repeated addition of incorrect or unsourced information

Unnecessary blanking of sections

Promotional or irrelevant content being added

To prevent further disruption and maintain the integrity of the article, I kindly request temporary semi-protection.

Thank you. Sahil99906 (talk) 08:11, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined OP, you have repeatedly tried to insert pictures here; removing them is not vandalism....people just disagree if they areneeded or helpful. So please use the article talk-page to hash things out. Lectonar (talk) 13:24, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism Lado85 (talk) 09:14, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Last disruptive edit about 2 weeks ago. That's far from being a "high level" of vandalism. Lectonar (talk) 13:26, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This doesn't receive a huge amount of traffic or vandalism but it is highly relevant to the WP:ARBPIA CTOP and should probably be protected. Thanks in advance!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 10:13, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: There are constant reversions to the page that are ignoring legitimate and official press releases/online posts. The reversions are ignoring visual evidence on contributions to games and closure dates. This is beginning to amount to legitimate vandilism. 86.1.196.187 (talk) 11:00, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected. Lectonar (talk) 13:26, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP vandalism. UNITED BLASTERS (talk) 11:02, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Hello respected administrators,

I would like to request semi-protection for the "Samastipur" Wikipedia page.

Reason: This page has recently seen repeated instances of vandalism and addition of false or promotional information. As a result, the reliability and quality of the article are being compromised. Protecting the page will help maintain the integrity of the information and prevent further disruptions.

I kindly request you to review the edit history and consider applying semi-protection to prevent unregistered or new users from editing the article.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Sincerely,

Sahil99906 (talk) 11:44, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism followed by talk page harassment indicative of User:Jinnifer behavior. NJZombie (talk) 13:36, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Seems an old vandal has popped back up, this page has a long history of being targeted by someone, who is blocked and IP hops. Nswix (talk) 13:36, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

• To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
• Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
• Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
• If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add Edit fully-protected to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Redirect was protected years ago. It now leads to a broken anchor. RanDom 404 (talk) 18:39, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bearcat: as protecting admin. Daniel Case (talk) 01:34, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the section should be restored, which would fix the problem of the broken anchor. The section was deleted by a sock, then never restored before the article was protected. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: No longer needs protection. @HangingCurve:. RanDom 404 (talk) 13:15, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HangingCurve is no longer an admim. @RanDom 404: Why do you think the article doesn't need protection anymore? Lectonar (talk) 13:38, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: No edits since 2018 so protection could be lowered at least. Could use a retarget to List of films about the Titanic, the primary subject. RanDom 404 (talk) 13:21, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@RanDom 404: I suppose you mean Titanic (film), which has no edits since 2018 since it is fully protected. Also, it is already a redirect to Titanic (disambiguation)#Films. Why would we need to unprotect the redirect? Lectonar (talk) 13:34, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

• Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among Edit protected, Edit template-protected, Edit extended-protected, or Edit semi-protected to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
• Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the Edit COI template should be used.
• Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
• If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
• This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
